About e.business

"We believe that the cost-effective application of e.business has immense value to offer to all sectors of the UK economy. Simply introducing electronic technology will achieve little. But, modernising business and administrative processes in order to link all parties who depend on each other — the citizen, consumer, employee, team member, customer, supplier, agency, institution, official authority, etc — and then enabling these processes electronically can maximise service, support,and sales, and minimise cost, delays, uncertainty, inventory and waste. Both demand and supply can not be maximised nor brought into effective balance without the support of e.business.

"UKP.eb believes that success in e-business demands clear objectives among the partners in a value chain, whether public, private or, as in many cases across the world, a mixture of the two. Clarity of objectives will support the development of effective joint processes. These, in turn, need to be well defined in as simple and standard terms as is practicable, in order to achieve speed, certainty and low total cost of operation. Simple, standard processes support the cost effective application of e-business, which is increasingly essential for profitability, competitiveness and efficiency.

"There is therefore a great need to develop and publicise best practice business and administrative practices along with the associated e-business standards. These are, and need to be, increasingly common across the public and private sectors, across industries and across frontiers.

"No single body can encompass all of these opportunities. Therefore UKP.EB brings together the leading bodies for this work in the UK. Each is also linked to other bodies active in e-business. The partners in turn are the key channels to international best practice and standards.

"In order to help you decide which Partner you should contact to assist, the following lists have been prepared:

  1. economic sectors, public and private areas of activity and business;
  2. aspects of e.business and its standards.
Links are included to the UKP.eB Partners' web sites. If you are in doubt as to whom to contact, mail David Keech at David.Keech@bsi-global.com".
