Dick MabbottTogether with a dedicated team of standards and security consultants, Dick's mission is to ensure the payments industry has the standards it needs to develop its future business and the security architecture to ensure the integrity of any payment clearing systems. To that end, e-business is obviously one of the most significant developments of recent times.

e.center

Steve Coussins, Chief Executive, e.centre

Steve CoussinsSteve has spent his entire working life in the IT industry. He spent more than ten years in IT consulting and system integration consultancies, both large and small. His last ten years has been occupied in running e-commerce companies, most recently as Managing Director of software and services company, Harbinger UK. He has strong commercial experience of providing e-business solutions and integrating them into enterprise planning and control processes.

Steve joined e.centre at a time of great potential. e.centre is currently making a major impact in the developing area of ebXML, which will bring simple, cost effective, globally standardised e-business messaging to businesses of all sizes. This means that moving to the internet will enable all SMEs to exchange e-business data and allow them to integrate electronic communications throughout their supply chains all the way from their ultimate customers through to their own back-office systems.

The other major area of e.centre’s work, based on the EAN International standards for automatic identification of goods and services, is in the development of sophisticated tracking and tracing processes. These have become a European Community requirement for livestock, and are also being taken up by the defence sector for asset tracking. Looking further ahead, new ways of tagging goods with radio frequency identifiers or very small barcodes are also being developed.
