EAST ASIA and eBUSINESS STANDARDS

The East Asia Electronic Commerce Association (EA-ECA) and the China National Institute for Standardization (CNIS), the first "China-Japan Joint International Forum for eCommerce Standardization", was held on 15 June in Tokyo and 18 June in Beijing.

EA-ECA is a new organization (around a year old) (www.ea-eca.org), that has been founded in order to promote standardised eBusiness in that part of the world. The founder members include mainly Japanese companies and universities and other research interests in eBusiness, but also include Microsoft. There is some level of concentration on data dictionaries and classification issues, although the overall scope is wider. The Forum was sponsored by Hitachi, Fujitsu, NEC and a number of other smaller companies.
